We've all found ourselves at the crossroads of CULTURE and KINGDOM—the people of the Bible did too!
The Israelites had been in Babylon for so long that they adapted to the culture. Once they returned to their land, began to rebuild, and heard God's ways in their ears again, they were deeply grieved. They were accustomed to the culture of the WORLD and not the KINGDOM.
Upon realizing this, they weren't CONDEMNED, but CHARGED:
"Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength." (Nehemiah 8:10)
The turning and transforming of our ways doesn't have to be somber—joy comes when we turn to Him. If you have felt off path with God lately, be encouraged to turn your face toward Him, free of guilt and full of celebration. Thank you, Chaz, for this powerful reminder & encouragement today!
