Sequels to movies that don't appear set up for them are disappointing, to say the least. I sincerely wish that Avatar and Knives Out had more interesting sequels than they did... or rather that they didn't have sequels at all. But alas, franchising is an unfortunate byproduct of creating anything nowadays.
Slight addendum to my script:
- I call the Omaticaya and Metkayina people "Na'Vi" interchangeably and should have called them by their proper tribal names. Specifically I say that "Jake left the Na'Vi" which reads like "Jake left humanity to join other humans" and that doesn't make sense.
