This was some astrophotography in a time-lapse video attempting to catch the Eta Aquarids on 5-2026 by Nick Teti of Mister Photon Media in Colorado USA. Light pollution factors, clouds, moon phase and geo-location are all factors to capture better footage, including in peak activity.
In this instance geo-location should have chosen and area with less light pollution and a clear horizon. By the time the showers center to my relative location was a factor lessening the ability with the camera or naked eye to locate the constellation and shower. The moon should be away from your solar constellation and center of activity, in a waning or not-quite new moon phase as well.
Using astronomy applications or websites are better for geo-locating and tracking the solar system planets, constellations, stars and other interesting features. Using various magnification lenses and cameras or telescopes with imaging potential is ideal, especially to capture specific objects, stellar subjects.
I was most interested in seeing the meteor shower however the conditions and camera choice should have changed. I was using a DJI Pocket Osmo III, that does not allow you to zoom in on timelapse and nightlapse modes. But it's always fun to see how you travel and how the night sky which has a lot of interesting stellar object better seen at late night or early morning. I have better luck tracking objects with longer zoom lenses and mirror-less cameras with more ISO and exposure time control. Keeping a lower ISO is key to less noisy pictures, do a longer exposure time has to be relied on. A higher ISO / ASA always increases the noise in a picture or video.
The streaking objects in the sky are jet airplanes and not comets or meteors. There are easy to differentiate due to red lights, white streaking interval patterns and other factors, often traveling a far straighter line than a comet or meteor. Planes also accelerate much faster, and stellar objects curve and slow down.
