Astronomers have created a unique thousand-colour image of the Sculptor galaxy. To create this highly detailed image, the team of researchers spent over 50 hours observing the galaxy with the Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE) instrument on ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT). By mapping this galaxy at thousands of different colours or wavelengths astronomers can know everything about the stars, gas and dust in this galaxy.
