King Rose Archives | Aston Martin DB9 Development, Design and Testing @KingRoseArchives | Uploaded June 2023 | Updated October 2024, 1 day ago.
The Aston Martin DB9 which debuted in 2003, was a major undertaking for Aston Martin, and they approached the DB9’s development with a great deal of care and attention to detail. The car was designed from the ground up, using an aluminum VH (Vertical Horizon) architecture or platform developed during Ford's ownership of Aston Martin. The bodywork, designed by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, featured classic Aston Martin styling cues with a modern twist. Designed to be a driver's car, the DB9 brought a powerful V12 engine and a responsive chassis. The car was capable of 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds, and had a top speed of over 180 mph.
The Aston Martin DB9 was extensively tested before it went into production, with prototypes being put through their paces in a variety of conditions. The car was tested by driving for a number of hours in different weather conditions including heat, severe wind, and electrical storms. This rigorous testing program helped to ensure that the DB9 was a reliable and capable car.
The DB9 was a critical and commercial success. Praised for the car's styling, performance, and handling, the DB9 helped to revive Aston Martin's fortunes and establish Aston Martin as a leading player in the luxury sports car market. The last Aston Martin DB9 rolled out in 2016. #cardesign #luxurycar #carlover #carcollection
