About the instructor: William G. Vicars, Ed.D. (a.k.a. "Dr. Bill" of ASL University) is a Professor Emeritus at Sacramento State University. During his tenure, he served as a full professor, researcher, and coordinator of the American Sign Language and Deaf Studies bachelor's degree program. He is Deaf. He holds a doctorate in Deaf Studies/Deaf Education from Lamar University in Texas, and has over 30 years of experience teaching and providing workshops globally -- both online and in person. He is the director of Lifeprint.com, one of the world's most popular web destinations for learning sign language. Through his YouTube channel (YouTube.com/billvicars), he provides free ASL instruction to over 600,000 subscribers. He is married to Deaf culture researcher and author Bee Vicars, MFA, who is also Deaf.
