At the Canada Council for the Arts’ art space, Âjagemô

In Constructed Identities, artist Persimmon Blackbridge uses mixed media wood carving with found objects to question how disability is framed as a fracturing of ordinary life rather than a normal, expected part of it. Her exploration of the figure begins in disability, but necessarily complicates itself as our embodied identities intersect and overlap. Curated by Tangled Art + Disability, the exhibit includes audio description, ASL and LSQ translation and tactile art. The Âjagemô art space is barrier-free and the nearest accessible public transit stop is at Laurier and Elgin.

Join us for the opening reception on January 23, 2018 at 5:30 pm. Attendant care, ASL and LSQ interpretation will be provided.

Son exploration de la figure commence par le handicap, mais se complique nécessairement à mesure que nos identités intrinsèques se croisent et se chevauchent. Organisée par Tangled Art + Disability, lexposition comprend la description audio, la traduction ASL et LSQ et une œuvre tactile. Laccès à l’espace Âjagemô se fait sans obstacle et larrêt de transport en commun le plus proche est Laurier et Elgin.
