'The One That I Turn to' is an uplifting and infectious Pop/EDM track that intertwines heartfelt lyrics with a captivating melody. Blending elements of fiction and reality, the song draws inspiration from the various stages of my relationship experience. The lyrics were composed in two distinct phases, separated by a year, allowing me enough time for introspection and a deeper exploration of my genuine feelings. This approach added a fresh perspective to the writing as well as a layer of authenticity, reflecting how love grows over time. I've always aspired to release a song that encapsulates nostalgic romance in a style that resonates with my true essence. The process of piecing it together was incredibly liberating. Sonically, 'The One That I Turn to' diverges from my earlier releases by embracing a more synth-heavy instrumental sound, drawing inspiration from my previous alias Astra.
The music video, shot over two days in Lone Pine, California was the perfect visual to set the scene for what is to be one ASHWYN's biggest releases yet.
