I decided to make a big change in our house: no phones Monday-Friday.
My kids can earn their phones back on the weekend if they've had a great week at home and at school. Every Friday, we sit down and assess the week, including how they behaved, how they did in school, and what they can work on going into the next week.
So far, this new rule has been a SUCCESS.
In this video, I'm talking about why I made this decision, how it's been going with my 9-year-old and 5-year-old, and some of the conversations we've been having along the way.
But more than anything, I want to talk about something I think parents need to hear: as your children get older, don't let them slip away from you. Bring them closer.
Technology is only going to become a bigger part of their lives, so I'm trying to be intentional about creating space for conversation, connection, accountability, and quality time while they're still young.
If you're a parent trying to figure out screen time, discipline, boundaries, or simply how to stay connected with your kids as they grow, I hope this conversation gives you something to think about.
Let me know in the comments: Do your kids have phone or screen-time rules during the week?
