The world has lots of ideas about what “Victory” means…
Lots of dreams about success, promises of prosperity, cries for justice…
It’s truly staggering to try and think about all the energy and effort than man has poured into trying to figure out how to engineer (quote) “the ideal society” since that first abandoned construction project at Babel.
What an incredible mess we have made, out of everything that was made available to us, as the pinnacle and custodians of creation…
But the Kingdom of Heaven does not operate according to the assumptions and preferences of man. The victory that Jesus offers us, runs completely counter to the hollow promises made by this fallen World, the lying gifts given by the Deceiver, and the hidden carnal desires of our own hearts.
Christ said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. (Matthew 16:24-27)
This is without a doubt, a most curious type of invitation indeed. A call to let go of chasing after the temporary and ultimately worthless crowns that the World chases after, and instead die to oneself, and follow the One who wears the crown that rules over all the others…
What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him? You have made him a little lower than the angels;
You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands. You have put all things in subjection under his feet.”
For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
And so my friends, this is what I pray that you and I might all be led to consider all the more, in light of all that transpires around us, even as on every front, in virtually every conceivable way, the agenda to sanitize the World from the Truth of God, and the Good News of the Gospel, rages on with ever-increasing screams of defiance toward the One who made all things…
I pray that we might come to such a place of trust and confidence in the goodness and the wisdom and the mercy of God, that no matter how insane or oppressive or upside-down the World becomes in it’s arrogance and idolatry, that everywhere we look, in every instance, all we see is the undeniable reality of our Heavenly Father, and His Son, through whom we have been given ALL things!
I pray that every last satanic ploy and antichrist agenda would be unmasked in our hearts and minds as nothing more than pathetic and futile attempts to erase the wonderful works of God from the face of the earth.
I pray that we might not only have no fear of the “Beast”, or the coming system that will bear it’s name, and mark, but learn to do even MORE than merely expose the hopelessness inherent to such Godless insanity, as we actually experience the sheer joy of being able to WORSHIP the Lord as we do so.
That we would learn to walk with a Peace that passes all understanding, because our lives are built upon the Foundation of the corner stone which the builders rejected. That we might stand with a strength and courage that can only come from knowing that there is Hope for the future, because the real Victory has already been won...
