On July 31, 2019, I finally had the opportunity to attend a Long Beach Dub Allstars concert. During that experience, I was also fortunate enough to meet and spend some time with Opie Ortiz, the artist whose work became an essential part of Sublimes visual identity. Opie was incredibly down-to-earth, and we ended up spending a couple of hours hanging out, sharing stories, good💨vibes, and unforgettable memories. It was one of those genuine moments you never expect but never forget.
We took a few photos together, and he was generous enough to sign several of my CDs—many of which featured artwork he had originally created. One of those albums was the one I want to share with all of you today: Sublime (1992), this original Skunk Records release, a true gem for any longtime fan of the band.
I first discovered Sublime in the mid-1990s, and I was instantly drawn to their unique blend of musical styles. Their fusion of reggae, punk rock, ska, dub, and hip-hop opened the door for me to explore an entire world of bands that embraced the same spirit of musical freedom and experimentation.

Stomp Records, a Montreal-based independent label founded in 1994 by Matt Collyer and Jordan Swift, is renowned for its influential compilation series that helped define the Canadian third-wave ska and punk scene.
