Episode 8 of Artistic Art Battles of Artismia. THREE rounds of drawing and painting THE AVENGERS. HULK, IRONMAN, & THOR. Apple Pencil 2, iPad Pro (2018) and Procreate app versus Berol Color Pencil, Acrylic Paints, & Oil Paints. DIGITAL VERSUS TRADITIONAL. Which one won? You Decide.
With the anticipation of Avengers: Endgame only days away. I was compelled to create a new Artistic Art Battles of Artismia video. I used the Newest Apple iPad Pro 12.9, the Second Generation Apple Pencil and Procreate app. Berol color Pencils, Liquitex and Crya Acrylic paints. Grumbacher, Holbein, & Winsor Newton Oils to draw and paint a few of the Avengers. More specifically The Incredible HULK, IRONMAN, and THOR. This video displays the time-lapse clips and videos of the process to create 6 different drawing and paintings using a variety of media. Watch the first round, as I draw a digital version of the hulk using only the 6B pencil (brush) in the Procreate App, and then a traditional version using Berol Colored Pencil on 9"x12" Illustration board. The second round I paint a digital version of Ironman using the "Round Brush," "Wet Acrylic" brush, and the "Acrylic" brush in the Procreate app, on the iPad Pro using Apple Pencil. Then a traditional version using a variety of standard paint brushes and acrylic paint on a 9"x12" canvas. The third round I paint THOR, first using Apple Pencil, iPad Pro and Procreate App to create a digital painting, using again the "Round Brush," "Oil Paint" brush, "Oriental Brush", and the "Dry Brush." I then paint a traditional version using a variety of standard brushes and some of my favorite oil paints on a 9"x12" canvas.
