Yiwei Xu is a Chinese-born artist currently based in London. She visited us at Jackson’s Studio to discuss her art practice, her childhood dream of becoming an artist, and the importance of pursuing your calling. Heavily influenced by the transience of nature and the changing seasons, Yiwei uses a palette of rich, saturated colours to capture her emotional response to the world. She conveys the sensuality of the natural environment in soft pastels and oil sticks, abstracting trees and bodies of water with vibrant, organic mark-making.
