The Artemis II mission successfully concluded today, April 10, 2026, with a "perfect descent" and splashdown in the Pacific Ocean at 8:07 p.m. EDT.
The Orion capsule, named Integrity, safely returned its four-person crew—Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and CSA astronaut Jeremy Hansen—following their historic 10-day journey around the Moon.
Splashdown & Recovery Details

Location: Approximately 40 to 60 miles off the coast of San Diego, California.
Final Descent: After hitting the atmosphere at nearly 25,000 mph, the capsule utilized a sequence of 11 parachutes to slow to a gentle 17–20 mph for splashdown.
Recovery Team: The USS John P. Murtha is leading the recovery operation. Navy divers and NASA personnel are currently securing the capsule to transport the astronauts via helicopter to the ship for medical evaluations.
Weather: Conditions were described as "perfect," meeting strict criteria for wave height (under six feet) and wind speeds (under 25 knots).
