collectSPACE.com — A large, 3-by-5-foot (0.9-by-1.5-meter) U.S. flag is in the Artemis II Official Flight Kit (OFK). It was prepared like at least seven others to be deployed on the lunar surface until its mission, Apollo 18, was canceled due to budget cuts. The banner was instead put on display at NASA Headquarters in Washington until recently, when it was taken off exhibit to make its premiere flight to the moon on Artemis.
