Creators | Art World: A New Wave of Iraqi Cinema @TheCreatorsProject | Uploaded 9 years ago | Updated 4 days ago
In the first episode of Art World, The Creators Project explores Baghdad's burgeoning independent film scene, meeting two of its leading directors, Mohamed Al-Daradji (Son of Babylon) and Yahya Al Allaq (War Canister). Iraqi cinema was devastated during the Gulf War and with continuous conflict in the region since, artistic endeavors have often been put on hold. In our video, we see how these filmmakers are producing films despite the desolate industry, using real locations, non-professional actors and improvised dialogue.
In Art World, we spotlight the most vibrant international cities and their distinguished cultural pockets via the symbiotic relationship between artists and their environment.
