I propose a simple definition for art that better suits modern media. The definition is just three words: purposeful, nonconcrete communication.

Some questions for discussion: does art have to be purposeful? Does it have to involve an audience, or can it be internalized? If so, is that a form of communication between one aspect of the self and the other? And what term might work better than nonconcrete? Would "indirect" or "connotative" be more accurate?

Thanks for listening!
