Tyseley lies about 3–4 miles southeast of Birmingham city centre, near Coventry Road (A45) and the Grand Union Canal  
Its name means “Tyssa’s clearing”, pointing to its origins as a wooded clearing likely dating back to Saxon times 
The area flourished during the industrial boom, with major employers including Rover Cars, Reynolds Tubes, Corona, Abingdon Motorcycles, Dawes Cycles, and Smiths Crisps. Residents could afford to build Victorian terraces nearby  
Today, it remains an industrial hub, home to firms like Klaxon and Bakelite, and hosts the sizeable Tyseley Energy from Waste Plant  
Tyseley Railway Station, opened in 1906 by the Great Western Railway, serves as a key junction connecting Birmingham with Leamington Spa, Stratford-upon-Avon, and London-bound services via Chiltern Main Line 
The station has four platforms and underwent upgrades like restored platforms and improved junctions for faster travel 
Tyseley Locomotive Works (formerly Birmingham Railway Museum) operates from the original GWR depot. It’s a center for restoration and preservation of steam and diesel locomotives, supporting Vintage Trains railtours
