I think Maria along with other ships with wide shots are really good to use in a straight through run of advance course. Controlling the screen space with the wider shots in the last two stages reduces the chances of getting sniped from behind or sides of the screen which happens to me a bit when using a ship with a narrower shot such as Grass Hopper. I didn't do too much rank control at all, I kept a full life stock and bomb stock through most of the run. But I would still recommend not grabbing extra shot, option or extend items if you are maxed out. I've seen the game crank up the enemy shot rate by grabbing extra unneeded items. Top tier shmup, I want to clear it again with Miyamoto soon.

Seems to have unique stages compared to OG Darius II and interesting stage routes where the routes have 2 stages tied together in each branch rather than having the player pick a single stage individually.
