Armadillidium vulgare ‘Magic Potion’ isopods are descended from stock collected in the state of Georgia by Jay Fiore. This Armadillidium vulgare strain was isolated and refined by Kyle Kandilian of www.roachcrossing.com. my Armadillidium vulgare ‘Magic Potion’ stock comes directly from Kyle.
Armadillidium vulgare ‘Magic Potion’ expressed the Dalmatian trait, which means it has a white background with small dark spots, but it has also been selectively bred for increased yellow coloration. The effect of the bold yellow patterns on the white is the origin of the name.
This stock grows and reproduces more slowly than many A. vulgare strains, and gets very large.
There are now a variety of lines of this and other isopod species referred to as “Magic Potion”, but this is the original.
