A performance of Aristophanes' "Assembly Women," staged by BCB alumna Maria Khan (BA 2015, Pakistan) and students in Bard College Berlin's arts building The Factory.
"Assembly Women" tells the story of Athenian women’s successful attempt to take over the government and institute a new regime that would care equally for all its citizens: male and female, rich and poor, young and old, beautiful and ugly. A radical rethinking of the problem of equality, and the role of women in society, the play resonates today as it did more than 2400 years ago.
