Home Assistant | Area awareness with Home Assistant's open-source voice assistants @home_assistant | Uploaded December 2023 | Updated October 2024, 11 hours ago.
When you install our voice assistants in several rooms in your house, it's natural to say "turn on the lights" and expect only the lights in that specific room to turn on. With area awareness, this happens automatically in Home Assistant! This command will now turn on all of the lights in the current area, and “turn off the lights” will do the opposite. You can still target the lights in a different area, of course, by specifying: “turn on the lights in the bedroom”.
This demonstration of area awareness when using Home Assistant's voice assistants was shown during Year Of The Voice Chapter 5. Watch chapter 5 here: youtube.com/live/djEkgoS5dDQ
