Yes, a study has proven that people between ages 15-35 are spending more money than they can afford on local, artisinal, gastro-innovative restaurant food. And then they’re taking photos of it, and posting it to Instagram to annoy all their friends.
Millennials are super-interested in food, especially if that food comes with a hearty side of buzzwords. Whole Foods noticed the younger generation’s interest in Organic free range sea salt, and that’s why they’re planning to open a new line of stores that caters more to the under-40 person’s budget (goo.gl/ujChDN), but a lot of the younger market doesn’t care, and is eating their way into the poorhouse. That, or they're giving away tons of personal information for a $1 off coupon on microbrewed cream soda.
