" Are You Ready To Rock" is a 1975 single release by English glam rock band Wizzard. The group was formed by singer/songwriter Roy Wood, a former member of The Move and then the co-founder of the Electric Light Orchestra. Wood found himself frequently at odds with ELO's co-leader Jeff Lynne. Consequently as personal and musical differences increased, it became clear that both could no longer work together in the same group. Wood left taking three of the band members as well as the band's sound engineer and formed Wizzard. With Wood's distinctive warpaint make-up, colorful costume and bagpipes along with band members appearing in pantomime horses, gorilla costumes or as roller-skating angels often wielding custard pies for good measure, Wizzard became one of the most picturesque groups in the British glam rock era. In the UK, Wood has been described as being responsible for some of the most memorable sounds of the 1970's and playing a major role in the Glam Rock, Psychedelic, and Progressive Rock movements. He was keen on musical experimentation taking the pop-groups into new areas, and was an early proponent of combining rock and roll and pop music with other styles, such as classical music, the big band sound, and introducing classically-styled string and brass sections into the pop record.
