#1: FEAR
Duh, it feels scary. No wonder we run from it 🫣
Try this: Name the feeling. Say to yourself, “I’m afraid of X, and that’s okay.”
#2: ANGER
Many of us avoid anger because we were taught it’s unsafe or unacceptable.
Try this: Practice speaking a small truth when you feel the feeling arise. Say: “I’m upset about X. Can we talk about it?”
#3: GRIEF
This emotion can feel so complicated and heavy 💔
Try this: Allow yourself to feel it fully. Journaling, crying, or sharing your feelings with a trusted person lets sadness move through you.
#4: DISAPPOINTMENT
Disappointment often comes when expectations aren’t met, by others or ourselves.
Try this: Name the expectation and reality. “I feel disappointed that X happened. Here’s what I need to move forward.”
#5: GUILT
Guilt pops up when you believe you’ve done wrong, or when you feel responsible for someone else’s feelings.
Try this: Ask yourself “Is this guilt justified, or am I taking responsibility for something that isn’t mine?”
