Think you were finally burned out on isekai anime? Think again, because the genre is about to dominate the anime industry once more. Konosuba Season 4 has officially been confirmed, kicking off what might be the most stacked lineup of isekai sequels we’ve seen in years.
The announcements don’t stop there. Mushoku Tensei Season 3 is scheduled to release in July, while Re:Zero Season 4 and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 are both arriving in April, with Tensura reportedly spanning an enormous 60 episodes. Fans of slower, world-building-focused series also have Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 4 to look forward to, a series many consider one of the strongest modern isekai. On top of that, Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2 has been confirmed, The Beginning After the End Season 2 is set for April, and Lord of the Mysteries is receiving a one-hour special this summer, followed by a full Season 2 roughly a year later.
Even beyond television seasons, the isekai wave keeps growing. The Eminence in Shadow is getting a movie, and The Rising of the Shield Hero is returning with Season 5, further adding to an already overwhelming release schedule. And this likely isn’t even the full list, with plenty of smaller or yet-to-be-announced isekai projects still flying under the radar.
With so many major isekai anime returning at once, the question isn’t whether the genre is alive, but whether we’re getting too many new isekai seasons all at the same time.
