You see “Made in Italy” and assume quality. You see “Made In China” and assume...?

But when it comes to coffee gear, those labels often don’t mean what you think they mean.

In this video, I unpack what manufacturing labels actually tell you — and what they conveniently leave out. As coffee people, we obsess over transparency with our beans: farm, altitude, pay equity. Yet somehow, when it comes to the $500–$5,000 machines we brew with every day, we stop asking questions.
I’ll walk through a practical framework for understanding where your gear is made, how it’s made, and what actually matters when it comes to quality, ethics, and transparency.

By the end of this video, you’ll know:
- Why “Made in ___” labels can be misleading
- How two products made in the same country can have wildly different quality
- What questions actually reveal whether a brand stands behind its manufacturing
- How to think about coffee gear the same way we already think about single-origin coffee
