China has just sent two giant pandas, called Xin Bao and Yun Chuan, to San Diego Zoo in the US. This is a hugely significant event, but will the pandas be safe there? Will they be healthy? And is San Diego Zoo a good place to send them to?

Just before Xin Bao and Yun Chuan left China, I flew to Sichuan, and went to the Ya’an Giant Panda Base, which is where the pandas were quarantining before making the trip to the US. I wanted to say goodbye, and also find out the answers to the questions that many people in China might be asking right now.
