It took 5 years to make the world's first lab grown beef burger that was produced by in-vitro cattle stem cells. Does it sound yummy? Didn't think so! The burgers that are created by knitting together 20,000 strands of lab-grown protein is combined with flavor enhancing salt, bread crumbs, egg powder, red beet juice, and saffron. Food tasters were not overly enthusiastic about the flavor of the "burger."
While protein shortage is a real issue we must prepare for, there are other issues such as the slaughtering of animals, climate change, air pollution, land degradation, energy use, and deforestation, there are also nutritional considerations as well. Protein burgers are not the same as meat! Where are the fats, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, enzymes etc that are in real meat?
The primary issues addressed in this story was taste! Hello! I guess if Mikey likes it, it'll sell...smile. For more information please visit doctorsaputo.com
