Are Dutch intersections with no traffic controls a complete disaster? I'll let you decide in this short video I shot mid-afternoon in mid-June in Houten, a suburb of Utrecht in The Netherlands, where the city center is essentially a car-free zone. For more on Houten, see the links below.

Houen features a network of bicycle-priority streets, off-street pathways for walking and cycling, and a lot of modal filters that prevent cars from entering the city center. Nearly every residence around the city has direct or near-direct car parking facilities via the ring road. Because the city center does not allow unfettered car access, it is a much quieter and serene environment. If only they could get rid of the motor scooters/mopeds (also known as snorfietsen in Dutch).
