As school gets underway, data shows more parents are actively avoiding vaccines for their children.

The latest numbers from CDC shows 4.2% of kindergartners had at least one vaccine exemption during the 2025-26 school year, up from 3.6% the previous school year. This comes as two unvaccinated people died of measles in Pennsylvania, the first measles deaths of the year.

Earlier this month, the president signed an executive order calling for revamped childhood vaccine recommendations.

The administration said the move is meant to give parents choices. The order also calls to split the MMR vaccine into separate shots, a move that is not supported by scientific evidence.
