Are anime characters white? Realistic fan art of them would say yes. In almost all realistic renditions of famous anime characters they're white. This not only perpetuates the usage of white as the default in art, but also makes cultural appropriation seem "okay" because anime doesn't take place in "reality". Well newsflash, art doesn't exist in a vaccuum and isn't immune to racism, globalization, capitalism, etc.
