In this video I show you how to improve the performance of your MPU6050 IMU project by incorporating a Complimentary filter. This filter algorithm allows you to exploit the best properties of the accelerometers and combine them with the best properties of the Gyros. This is called Sensor Fusion. The end result is measurement of Roll and Pitch which is fast, accurate, no short term noise, and no long term drift. The MPU6050 contains 3 accelerometers for measuring acceleration along the x axis, the y axis, and the z-axis, and three gyros for measuring rotational velocity around those axis. In today's lesson, I will show you how to activate the three gyros on the MPU6050. Gyros measure the rotational velocity in radians per second. The three gyros measure rotational velocity about the X axis, the Y axis, and the Z axis. I will then show you how to measure roll, pitch, and yaw using only the gyros. I will take you through things step-by-step, and show you how to connect the module and program it.
