A fan-favorite at this year's @MakerfaireromeEu, @EdgeImpulse's David Tischler gives us a look at the race car challenge — a fun demo that blends sensors, edge AI, and a little friendly competition.
The setup consists of a couple mini slot cars equipped with an Arduino Nicla Sense ME running an Edge Impulse model to detect if that vehicle is in motion, stopped, or crashed. Meanwhile, a camera connected to an Arduino UNO Q looks down at the track to time each lap and then determine the winner.
