Ride along on a Honda Africa Twin motorcycle camping adventure to the Arctic Circle. From Ottawa through the Canadian prairies, the Yukon, the Rockies, and back through the United States, this motorcycle documentary captures the grit, solitude, and beauty of one of the most epic rides across North America.
My name is Zach, and I’m proud to share my moto-camping adventure to the Arctic Circle on my trusty Honda Africa Twin, camping along the way in a Bereg hot tent.
The journey begins in my hometown of Ottawa, Ontario, and takes me across Canada into some of the most remote and unforgiving landscapes on the continent. Riding through the forests in the fall, the colors are brilliant, the air is crisp, and every mile north pulls me deeper into the unknown.
From there, I push across the vast Canadian prairies. Many say they are boring, but I found them meditative as I rode for hours with nothing but open land and an endless horizon ahead. British Columbia brings dramatic terrain and the sense that the real adventure is just beginning.
Reaching the Yukon, I face snow, cold, and the realization that the path forward could become truly dangerous. Do I push on into winter with a 500-pound bike loaded with gear, or make the call to turn back? Blizzard conditions and icy roads force a decision, and the adventure takes an unexpected turn south.
But the challenges do not end there. In the remote stretches of northern BC, I encounter something terrifying that reminds me how unforgiving this land can be. Soon after, I reconnect with civilization, stopping to visit old friends out west and riding through the Rockies with views that defy description.
The homeward stretch takes me into the United States, hammering out long days from Washington State through to Minnesota before finally crossing back into Canada.
What began as a ride to the Arctic Circle became something bigger: an epic journey of solitude, grit, and discovery. If you have made it this far, thank you for riding with me. Until the next adventure, cheers and take good care, my friends.
