Does Savannah need an ordinance to help protect the hidden archaeological treasures buried beneath our soil? The Chatham County-Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission hosted a forum on Saturday, May 12th to discuss options and learn about what has worked in other cities. The panel was composed of Richard Kanaski, a Regional Archaeologist with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Dr. Sue Moore, a Professor of Anthropology at Georgia Southern University, Dr. Pamela Cressey, Archaeologist for the City of Alexandria, VA, and Architect Neil Dawson of Savannah. Filmmaker and historian Michael Jordan of Cosmos Mariner Productions served as moderator. The event took place at Tritinity Church on Telfair Square in downtown Savannah.
