Archaeologists Unearthed Something in New Zealand That Doesn't Match Human History
Somewhere off the coast of New Zealand, six hundred years ago, a ship went missing. Nobody wrote down what happened to it. Nobody recorded who was on board. In January of 2012, a storm tore open a dune and pulled part of that ship back into the open. What came out was not driftwood. It was a section of hull, patched and repaired for decades, built to survive a crossing that could kill everyone on board if a single joint failed. The wood survived. The people did not. No bodies were ever found near it. No names. No record of what happened out on that water. But what researchers found buried inside that hull did not answer that question. It raised a far bigger one.
