Archaeologists beneath Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre have uncovered traces of ancient olive trees and grapevines dating back roughly 2,000 years.

The discovery suggests cultivated land once existed near the site traditionally associated with the burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ — strikingly echoing the Gospel of John’s description of a garden near Calvary and the tomb.

The findings do not prove this is the tomb of Jesus, but they offer remarkable archaeological evidence consistent with a detail preserved in Scripture.
