This strategy effectively either forces the XX_X barrel pattern or allows you to respond to it and use it in normal grouping techniques. The usual strat is to respond by running to the left and preparing for a wall jump, maybe getting 100 points for the 3 barrels, and worse, accidentally grabbing the hammer at an inopportune time. This strategy renders the XX_X ineffective, eliminating the risk, and turning it into a 500 point opportunity.
