Joniversity | Arab Spring (Pt5): Iran, Syria, the Palestinian Split and Conclusions @Joniversity | Uploaded August 2012 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
Part 5 (and last) of Joniversity's 'Great Arab Spring Project' - this time focusing on Iran and Hezbollah's meddling in Syria in efforts to keep Assad's regime in place and the Shiite crescent intact (for political, military and religious reason), as well as the Palestinian divide between the pro-Syrian Socialist camp and the more Hamas oriented Sunni camp, the former supporting Assad's brutal crackdown on its population (including Palestinians) and the latter supporting the Free Syrian Army and the rebel forces. I will also mention that beyond the age-old Shia-Sunni divide and the importance of Syria as a conduit between Iran and the Mediterranean see, Iran also has a religious agenda as it prepares for the coming of the Mahdi when a great war should take place that will of course exterminate the Jews who are allied with Satan (well that's obvious :-) ) -- a war which will be won by the hidden Imam -- the Mahdi -- who will of course turn all the world into an Islamic "paradise" (unless you're a woman, LGBT, etc.), and I will end with MY OPINION, what I think the west, as the only party with no religious aspirations in the region (and thus more logical), should do.
