I’m checking out the new Aqara E1 security camera, geni.us/AqaraE1Cam (Amazon affiliate link) and there are three things you’ll want to know before buying it. It has pan and tilt, but those controls are only available in the Aqara app, while Apple Home, Alexa, and Google have more limited controls. It also supports 24/7 recording with a microSD card up to 512GB, plus NAS and cloud options, although I wouldn’t personally pay $50 a year per camera for cloud storage. Finally, despite being advertised as Wi-Fi 6, it only connects over 2.4GHz, so you don’t get the benefits of 5GHz. Overall, it’s a solid budget-friendly camera, but there are definitely some limitations to keep in mind.
