- Apple (AAPL) Chief Executive Officer John Ternus touted the company’s strong product pipeline and teased a “phenomenal” iPhone launch next week. Ternus thanked his predecessor, Tim Cook, for his leadership at Apple and his help during the transition, and Cook is staying on as executive chairman. Ternus said he’s excited about what “lies beyond” the new iPhone release, “including the incredible products already in the works and the ones we haven’t even imagined yet that we’ll dream up and create together. Apple shares rise as a result.
- The S&P 1500 Transportation Index is down as much as 2.9% on Tuesday, its biggest intraday drop since June 17, as both oil prices and Treasury yields climb. Major decliners among freight transport firms include Saia -6.4%, Old Dominion -6.3%, CSX -5.3%, Union Pacific -3.8%,
- ExxonMobil (XOM) rose 2% and is on track for three straight wins. The energy stock is working its way up a consolidation pattern with a 176.41 buy point. Exxon is gaining ground above its 21-day exponential moving average after reclaiming the line on Monday.
