Apple announced smarter notifications for Apple Home at WWDC, but after digging a little deeper, it looks like they could be far more powerful than we were originally told.
It’s worth noting that intelligent notifications don’t appear to be fully live in iOS 27 Beta 1 yet, but this example gives us a glimpse of what’s coming.
While walking the dog, my Apple Home camera detected that I had left the house. Instead of simply telling me someone had left via the entrance, Apple Home also highlighted that my Nuki smart lock was still unlocked.
Yes, you can already receive lock and unlock notifications today. But this is different.
Apple understood the context. It knew I had left home, recognised the lock was still unlocked, and surfaced that information because it was relevant to the situation.
That’s not just a smarter notification. That’s a smarter home.
If this is how Apple intends these notifications to work, they could end up being one of the most useful Apple Home features announced at WWDC.
