Dr. Dwight Evans, a graduate of Loma Linda University School of Medicine class of 1973-B, completed an internal medicine residency and an endocrinology/metabolism fellowship at Vanderbilt University. He began his career at Montemorelos University in Mexico, where he chaired the department of internal medicine and served as vice president for medical affairs. Dr. Evans played a significant role in establishing or sustaining Adventist medical schools in Argentina, Nigeria, Peru, the Philippines, and Rwanda, which collectively graduate over 300 physicians annually.
In 1986, Dr. Evans returned to Loma Linda University, where he taught internal medicine for over 30 years and held numerous leadership positions. He served as chief of staff at Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans' Hospital for 16 years, where he pioneered quality and safety programs. He has secured grants for health service development and published multiple journal articles and book chapters. Dr. Evans has dedicated his life to service, assisting the General Conference Health Ministries' department and volunteering with Adventist Health International and the Inter-American Division. He and his wife, Helen, reside in Colton, California, and enjoy traveling and spending time with their three children.
