Dr. Rachel McLaughlin, a Loma Linda University School of Medicine graduate from the class of 2005, has dedicated her career to serving as an obstetrician and gynecologist in Kenya and Burundi. At just 16 years old, she felt called by God to provide compassionate care to underserved populations. After completing her residency at St Joseph Mercy Hospital in Michigan, she moved with her family to Africa, where she continues her work today.
Dr. McLaughlin is not only known for her expert care at Kibuye Hope Hospital, but also for her role as a professor at Hope Africa University and chair of the obstetrics and gynecology department. Recognizing the importance of medical education, she has trained and mentored a significant number of new physicians, who are now preparing to serve their home country of Burundi. Alongside her husband Eric, also a physician, and their three children, Dr. McLaughlin embodies a life of service and dedication to the healing and teaching ministry of Jesus.
