Many leaders in the Democratic Party are calling for unity as we approach the midterm elections. But with more and more so-called "Democratic Socialists" winning primary elections, there are concerns they may turn off more moderate and independent voters.
Last week’s narrow win by Abdul El-Sayed in the Democratic primary race for Senate in Michigan is now top of mind for the party.
"My hope is that our democracy will never be the same," Abdul El-Sayed said."
Unlike Mayor Zohran Mandani’s win in New York City, the path in purple Michigan, a state Donald Trump won just two years ago, is raising concerns among centrist Democrats.
