Today, HENI Talks is presented by Dr. Leanne Green, Curator at The Whitworth, The University of Manchester.

Dr Leanne Green explains how inspired by the removal of a decaying tree, Anya Gallaccio's sculptural commission for the Whitworth, led the artist to investigate themes of life, death and nature. Working from digital scans of the removed tree, she reproduced in ribbons of complex stainless steel plates, a monumental and reflective ‘ghost tree’. It's become a haunting response to loss and a timeless monument to nature.
