ANTROPOMORPHIA presents the band's most eerie and dangerous work to date: ‘Devoid of Light’. There has been six years between ‘Merciless Savagery’ and ‘Devoid of Light’, but the album was actually composed over a period of two and a half years. However, this work was spread out across several years. We started writing during the global plague of 2020, but in early 2021 I ran into some personal problems which resulted in not being able to write for almost a full year”; comments frontman Ferry Damen, before he continues: “Somewhere in the last quarter of 2022 we were able to continue and it eventually took us little more than a year to finish the album. ‘Devoid of Light’ has a variety of musical textures, it's filled with fanatical white-eyed aggression, misanthropic and nihilistic odes, pain, beautiful despair... all amalgamated within its dark and oppressive atmosphere.
