It was in the July of 1977 the Antipolis and the Romelia on tow by the Japanese tug Koyo Maru 2 from Greece to be scrapped in the Far East. The ships were rounding Robin Island when the tow rope snagged on the seabed in a gale force North Westerly wind. The Antipolis broke free from the tow line and drifted off to the shore. Parts of the wreck are still visible to this day. The wreck lies at Oudekraal near the 12 Apostles Hotel. This is a great dive spot as it is so close to shore.
