In this presentation, it is shown how 3D FEM simulations with Ansys Maxwell (including ICEPAK) for wireless power applications can be performed. The focus of the presentation is how to simulate the inductance and the resistance of a wireless power coil and how to simulate the coupling and magnetic field distribution between two different WPT coils. In addition, it is shown how the heating at the surface of a WPT coil is simulated depending on the input RMS current. The simulations are compared with measurements and calculations afterwards.
